I thought I’d try something new this month and continue it if I like it! August ended a few days ago, and I thought I’d share some of the new things that made my month that much better.
Steal Like An Artist was actually something I actually stumbled on whilst browsing Amazon for books, its clever and full of quotes from artists of all kinds about unblocking your creativity and using things you love as influences for your work. I think its a must read for anyone who’s been feeling restless and uncreative.
I started to take French this year, in hopes that when I visit France that I would speak fluently and like a native. Unfortunately for me, I read about how most high school language classes only teach you the lingual skills of a third grader. Then a few days later people were raving on about Duolingo, which I would use everyday in place of French class everyday.
One of my friends loves crafting as much as I do, and we had a crafting day where she created these gorgeous barettes for me. She realized that I often pin my hair back in the same style and said “if you insist on using that hairstyle so often, you might as well does it with something cuter than bobby pins.” As you can tell, my friends are lovely, thoughtful people.
I love red lipstick more than I love most things. And when my sister gave me a tube of the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in shade 01. Its incredibly matte, easy to apply, and stays on all the day. It also puts fear into the hearts of people, which is always a goal.
My sister was recently on a trip to New York (unfortunately it was all work and no play for her) and picked up a few souvenirs. For me she got sticky notes of the Andy Warhol print of Marilyn Monroe and pencils from The Costume Institute. Both are so pretty that I don’t have the heart to use them.
Two of the few things I like about school are planners and my dance team jacket. One involves color coding and the other involves dance, both of which are two of my favorite things. I love love love my planner but I think I’d like this one better, maybe next year. As for my dance jacket I just want to style it the way one would have in the 90’s.
